Paul Weller’s new album 'True Meanings' is set to mark his 60th year and is his 26th studio album is a record unlike any he has ever made before, characterised by grandiose-yet-delicate, lush orchestration: an aesthetic to which Paul’s better-than-ever voice, singing some of his most nakedly honest words, is perfectly suited. The album is expected to mark a musical departure of sorts for Weller, with the new record promising to feature a “dreamy, peaceful, pastoral set of songs to get lost in”.
Speaking about the track “Aspects” when it was released earlier this year, Weller said: “I don’t know if it’s indicative of the album, but it’s certainly the cornerstone to the record for me. It’s also where I got the title of the album from.”
‘True Meanings’ features contributions from folk legends Martin Carthy and Danny Thompson, Conor O'Brien, Noel Gallagher and Lucy Rose. Lyrics to three of the songs were written by Erland Cooper from Erland & The Carnival and another by Conor O’Brien of Villagers.
Deluxe CD (and streaming formats) of Paul’s new album ‘True Meanings’ will contain 5 bonus tracks – including remixes from Richard Hawley, RaVen and The Reflex and instrumentals of Glide and Old Castles.
