Superstar violinist David Garrett is back on blistering form as he unveils his new album, ‘Rock Revolution’ set for global release on Decca Records. ‘Rock Revolution’ showcases the extraordinary talent of one of his generation’s most talked-about and accomplished artists.
Garrett took up the violin at the age of four when we expressed an interest in the instrument that had been bought for his older brother. Five years later he made his debut at the Festival Kissinger Sommer. He then received his first Stradivarius two years later when he performed for the then German president Richard von Weizsäcker.
The young Garrett released his first album when he was 13 and by then he was racking up milestone after milestone - playing with the best orchestras under the direction of the best conductors and by 19 he was in New York, studying at Juilliard School, supplementing his income with modelling, which led some to call him the “David Beckham of the Classical Scene”!Today, David is helping to encourage young people to get into Classical Music with albums like ‘Rock Revolution’ which sees him covering rock classics - not an original move of course, but will no doubt help him to boost his profile outside of Classical circles.
