Singer, songwriter, harpist, and pianist Mikaela Davis is to release her debut album ‘Delivery’. She emerged in the early 2010s with a handful of harp-accompanied solo covers of indie singer/songwriters, including one of Elliott Smith's "Twilight" that quickly garnered tens of thousands of views.
The 25 year-old artist is a composer of striking maturity. Her arrangements deftly combine elements of rock, folk and pop, and her vocals display a wisdom and a ruefulness that belie her years. Davis’ instrument of choice is the harp, which she has played since she was eight years old, right about the time she could actually get her hands around the instrument. A native of Rochester, New York, she spent her formative years in youth orchestras rather than in garage bands and later earned a degree from the Crane School of Music.
‘Delivery’ is a joyride that pulls from folk rock, 70s and 80s pop experimentation, and muscly funk, Delivery manages to be both daring and comfortable, full of not just risks, but hooks. This debut album delivers messages of resilience and the idea of embracing what makes you unique. Produced by Grammy winner John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen, David Byrne, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) and with guest appearances by The Staves, Delivery features 10 original songs that pulse, swell, dance, and bewitch.
