2017 album. Produced by Greg Kurstin (The Bird And The Bee) guests include Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), Inara George (The Bird And The Bee), Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Dave Koz and Paul McCartney (The Beatles, Wings).
In the business for nearly 30 years, first as a member of Washington hardcore band, Scream and then moving to Nirvana in 1990 where he was on board during the media mayhem surrounding the band until Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994, Dave Grohl emerged as one of the long term heavy rock / pop success stories. Foo Fighters began by him on his own recording songs follwing the demise of Nirvana, scoring a record deal and then having to form a band to play the songs and has since, never looked back. Now they release their ninth album, ‘Concrete & Gold’.
Grohl broke his leg during their 2015 world tour but undeterred, he soldiered on, performing in a throne in order to complete the tour. The throne was then loaned out to Axl Rose of Guns ‘n’ Roses when he broke his foot on tour in 2016! Following the tour Grohl announced he wanted to take a sabbatical so he could heal up properly and undergo therapy sessions to get him walking properly. However, after six month he started writing again and he was back to work!
This album marks the first time he has worked with a pop producer but still expect the usual hard but commercial fare that the Foo Fighters have delivered during their 20 year plus career. Headline guest Paul McCartney dropped in and played drums on one track, ‘Sunday Rain’ for which lead vocals are supplied by Taylor Hawkins, the Foo’s usual sticks man. Another big selling album beckons!
